Recurrent idea but not good for Iowa. If it were to happen we would NEVER see a presidential candidate in IA or any equivalently less populous state. All would be decided in the coastal and gulf population centers and a couple large cities. But never fear—will never happen—amendment requires approval of three out of four (38) states and all states have same vote and the 40 smaller states will never back the efforts of the ten largest to accomplish this; would not even get close to 50/50.
In re: NPVIC—even if 270 goal is reached (unlikely) it faces serious constitutional issues surely invoking Supreme Court involvement.
Better idea and use of time and energy—instead of neutering Iowa’s influence resuscitate the moribund Iowa D’s and return us to competitive (purple) status.
